Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool
The NHS contracted the team at ML Shaw Fabrications to design, manufacture and install a brand-new kitchen ventilation system at Aintree University Hospital. Having worked on other projects for the NHS, we were delighted to take on this project.
The brief
The hospital needed a new kitchen with a full new ventilation system designed and fitted, completed in a tight 4-week time frame. This included all mechanical and electrical work. A fully working kitchen was essential for the operation of the hospital, so a temporary solution was also required.
The busy hospital environment meant our team was required to maintain a sanitary environment and cause as little noise disruption as possible.
The project
Our engineers completed on-site consultation and survey with the M&E and NHS estates team. We provided all the necessary drawings and calculations and submitted them to NHS for approval. Once approved, we provided a full project-managed, turn-key package adhering to the strict 4-week turnaround. The works we completed included:
-
A brand new roof
 -
A temporary kitchen for the hospital staff
 -
Safety hoarding throughout the temporary kitchen to separate our from the staff for safety and hygiene purposes
 -
Installation of a new kitchen ventilation system including mechanical and electrical work
 -
Installation of stainless steel fabrications

We also installed our Nano-Hub Control Panel, allowing full control of the ventilation system and saving the hospital money and energy.

“We had a strict schedule to complete this project for the hospital. It required meticulous planning and collaboration with the NHS team. The team maintained a safe environment for the staff while completing the new kitchen with as little disruption as possible to the hospital.”
